Students will engage in making inferences, identifying central ideas, themes, and the meanings of adages and proverbs, while strengthening their vocabulary skills.

Tuesdays are centered on understanding the craft and structure of texts. Students will analyze a paragraph, identifying its text structure (chronological, cause/effect, compare/contrast, etc.), using signal words as a guide. Tasks may include questions on the main idea, author's purpose and perspective, and vocabulary in context.

Wednesday focuses on deepening understanding of word relationships and nuances in meaning. Spelling and morphology will also be emphasized to enhance word recognition and comprehension.
