Imagine your 4th grade students coming to class and getting right to their Math morning work. Great for: bell ringer worksheets, developing multiplication, place value, fractions AND setting up Math routines! ✨ A specific theme for EACH day makes it quick and easy for you to build a foundation in your classroom! ✨
Do your 4th graders tend to forget previously taught concepts? There are certain Math skills (multiplication, division, place value, fractions) that students need to review repeatedly (multiplication!!!). This is why I created the Math Morning Work. The morning work covers the 4th-grade Math standards in a routine structure that makes it fun and engaging for students.
❤️ You will love this morning work because it:
✨ establishes an effective routine
✨ consistently covers critical content
✨ engages your students and makes learning FUN
✨ requires absolutely NO PREP
✨ Short & Sweet, BUT Rigorous ✨
This morning work will help you consistently focus on critical content and build a routine for you and your students. Because the morning work is short and sweet but a rigorous daily review, it really maximizes those first few minutes so that you can set a peacefully productive tone for your day.
✅ This yearlong bundle of morning work includes:
-
11 months of morning work (August - June)
-
4-5 weeks for each month
-
daily themes
-
printable pdfs (one week per page copied front to back)
-
Google Slides (each week is in one presentation)
-
Google Forms (self-grading)
⛅️ Daily Themes ⛅️
Daily themes help you consistently cover critical content, keep your students engaged, and create easy routines.
Each week follows the same routine. The focus for each day was created based on fundamental needs I noticed in my classroom of 4th graders: Multiplication & Division, Number Sense, & Fractions (including Fractions & Decimals) While these are not the only areas addressed, they are the main focus. Each week follows the same routine and structure.
✏️ Multiplication Monday- Problems are centered around multiplication and division. At the beginning of the year, problems are focused on the previous grade level to build confidence. These include: multiplication with basic facts, multiplicative comparisons, two-digit multiplication, three-digit multiplication, four-digit multiplication, division basic facts, two-digit divisors, three-digit divisors, factors and multiples, and properties of multiplication.
✏️ Base Ten Tuesday: These problems are centered around our number system and place value. Skills include: place value, comparing and ordering numbers, rounding, addition and subtraction.
✏️Wordless Wednesday: No word problems! Students have 3 problems without words. These problems include all four operations: multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, plus expressions and equations.
✏️ Throwback Thursday: Review Day! Other days may offer a review problem, but Thursdays may review standards and skills from a previous grade level. Measurement, Data, and Geometry standards are also reviewed on Thursday. Skills include: area and perimeter, 2-d shapes, converting units of measurement, time, money, symmetry.
✏️ Fraction Fun Friday: Nothing says Fun Friday like Fractions! There is always a need to review fractions. Keeping it short and including high-interest topics will help your students build confidence in a tricky concept. Your fourth graders will consistently review: identifying fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, mixed numbers, adding and subtracting fractions, multiplying fractions.
I created this resource in my 4th grade classroom because I saw a need to continuously review these key areas. By following this same structure each week, students know what to expect while they are also building their confidence in these essential math areas.
✅ Looking for a way to assess the skills covered?
The weekly assessments are a companion for the morning work and align directly with the skills covered throughout the week. These are sold separately or in the morning work + weekly assessment bundle.
❤️ Here's what other teachers are saying about the morning work:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I already have and use the Morning Sunshine for ELA and love it. I also use the assessments that go with it. I knew I would love the Math Morning Sunshine as well, and I was right. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase it!! Thank you!!" - Allison M.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I love using this morning work! I teach two classes of math so it is not always completed in the morning! It is such a great quick review of old and new concepts that students are constantly growing in their confidence in math! They learn that it is OKAY to not know how to do every problem, ask questions, and make educated guesses!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really saw that this product was worth it after the pandemic. We had students come back to school in person in January and had not been doing a daily review. The students that had been in school since August using this resource daily showed a higher understanding of math concepts and were more apt to trying new concepts they'd never been taught. - Mary Helen C.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "I love this resource! I have used it for several years with my students. It is a great mix of spiral review from previous grades combined with 4th grade skills. I love that it keeps information fresh, so they can't forget it. It also makes it perfect for morning work. My students know what day it is, so they're able to automatically get started on their sheet." - Stacie S.
