This resource is a unique way to get your students warmed up in the morning that helps incorporate the 4th Grade Language Standards, Vocabulary Practice, and Reading Comprehension skills.

⭐️ BUNDLE + SAVE:
The monthly morning work is part of the following BUNDLES:

• 4th Grade ELA Morning Work
• 4th Grade ELA Morning Work + Weekly Assessment
• 4th Grade ELA + Math Morning Work
• 4th Grade ELA + Math Morning Work + Weekly Assessments

Each month contains 4-5 weeks of ELA morning work, which will have a theme around the season, national holidays, or events associated with that particular month. The morning work is focused on ELA 4th Grade Common Core Standards. Each day has a thematic structure to cover those Language Standards as well as enhance Vocabulary and Comprehension skills.

Meaningful Monday: Monday is focused on making meaning. Tasks will focus on synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary words, context clues, and making meaning in a short amount of text. Some tasks may require students to make meaning in the text (inference, message, adages, proverbs, etc) or build vocabulary skills.

Text Structure Tuesday: Tuesdays will have a paragraph that requires students to identify the text structure, signal words, and a question or two related to main idea, author's perspective, or vocabulary.

Wordy Wednesday: Wednesday is all about working with words. Tasks include working with shades of meaning, homophones, or a short writing task using pictures or a word bank.

Throwback Thursday: Thursday is all about grammar usage and conventions.

Figurative Friday: Figurative Friday tasks include working with various types of figurative language including similes, metaphors, idioms, and more!

I created this resource after seeing success with the Math version in my 4th grade classroom that you can find HERE!

Diary of a 5th Grader {End of Year Memory Book} inspired by our favorite graphic novel!

This resource is available for the following grade levels:
Diary of a 2nd Grader

Diary of a 3rd Grader

Diary of a 4th Grader

This printable booklet is a fun way for your students to reflect on the school year during the last few days. You might guess that this booklet was inspired by my students' love for graphic novels, especially the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. To implement this booklet in your last few days of school, you might read a few pages of one of the books to give students ideas. I encouraged my students to be creative and humorous in completing this project. You might notice that there is a pattern throughout the books. A few lines of text written in journal form and then a short cartoon sketch. A few lines of text and then a short cartoon sketch, and so forth.

The booklet totals in 4 actual pages front and back. There are a total of 16 small booklet pages (including the front and back cover). The pages are copied back to back and then folded to form a booklet which students and families can cherish forever! Below are the booklet page contents. They are in the order in which you would copy them. On the following page you will find directions for copying as well.

Booklet Pages include the following:
{These are the half-sheet pages of the booklet}

Diary of a 5th Grader {Front Cover}
A Day in the Life of a 5th Grader (The Morning…) On these two pages, students can create a comic strip for their day. (pg. 1)
A Day in the Life of a 5th Grader (The Afternoon…) (pg. 2)
September/June This page is inspired by the diary form of many graphic novels.

This page is meant for students to reflect on what they thought at the beginning of the year and how they changed. My students came up with ideas such as:

"At the beginning of the year, I thought I wouldn’t have any friends. But now I know, to make new friends, you have to be a friend."

"At the beginning of the year, I thought I would never learn my multiplication facts. But now I know all of my facts and even some division."

Role Model Students identify a role model in their lives as well as how they are a role model for others. (pg. 4)
#Goals The end of the year is a great time to set goals before students head off for Summer Break! Students set personal and academic goals. (pg. 5)
When I Grow Up… This page goes right along with setting goals. (pg. 6)
VIP {Very Important People} Students sketch a few of their closest friends, teachers, etc. that they consider to be important in their present lives. (pg. 7)

Short & Sweet, BUT Rigorous
This math morning work will help you consistently focus on critical content and build a routine for you and your students. Because the morning work is short and sweet but a rigorous daily review, it really maximizes those first few minutes so that you can set a peacefully productive tone for your day.

✅ The monthly morning work includes:

• 4 weeks of morning work
• daily themes
• printable pdfs (one week per page copied front to back)
• Google Slides (each week is in one presentation)
• Self-grading Google Forms

⛅️Daily Math Themes ⛅️
Daily themes help you consistently cover critical content AND keep your students engaged.

Mathematician Monday – Review of key 4th grade skills + early multiplication. Later in the year, this becomes Multiplication Monday.

Base Ten Tuesday – Place value, number forms, rounding, and expanded form. These problems center around our number system and place value.

Wordless Wednesday – No word problems. Students have 3 problems without words.

Throwback Thursday – Review including measurement, data, geometry

Fraction Fun Friday – Nothing says Fun Friday like Fractions! There is always a need to review fractions. By keeping it short and sweet and including a fun personal question, this may help build your students’ confidence in fractions while also keeping it fresh.

✅ Looking for a way to assess the skills covered?
The weekly assessments are a companion for the morning work and align directly with the skills covered throughout the week. These are sold separately or in the morning work + weekly assessment bundle.

❤️ Here's what other teachers are saying about the morning work:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I already have and use the Morning Sunshine for ELA and love it. I also use the assessments that go with it. I knew I would love the Math Morning Sunshine as well, and I was right. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase it!! Thank you!!"
- Allison M.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I love using this morning work! I teach two classes of math so it is not always completed in the morning! It is such a great quick review of old and new concepts that students are constantly growing in their confidence in math! They learn that it is OKAY to not know how to do every problem, ask questions, and make educated guesses!

Diary of a 2nd Grader {End of Year Memory Book} inspired by our favorite graphic novel!

This product is also available for the following grade levels:
Diary of a 3rd Grader
Diary of a 4th Grader
Diary of a 5th Grader

{These are the half-sheet pages of the booklet}

Diary of a 2nd Grader {Front Cover}
A Day in the Life of a 2nd Grader (The Morning…) On these two pages, students can create a comic strip for their day. (pg. 1)
A Day in the Life of a 2nd Grader (The Afternoon…) (pg.

(pg. 7)
People Say the Funniest ThingsSpeech Bubbles for funny or interesting things people said throughout the year (i.e. teachers, friends, principal, etc.) (pg. 8)
Autographs Everyone loves a good autograph! (pg. 9)
Autographs (pg. 10)
All About My Teacher (pg. 11)
Top Ten Things You Should Know About My Teacher (pg. 12)
Top Ten Things You Should Know About My Teacher (pg. 13)
Top Ten Things I Learned This Year (pg. 14)
All About the Author (pg. 15)
