Daily themes help you consistently cover critical content AND keep your students engaged.

**✏️ Meaningful Monday:**
Monday focuses on determining meaning within texts, addressing vocabulary acquisition and use. Tasks will involve analyzing synonyms, antonyms, and context clues to determine word meanings in both literary and informational texts. Students will engage in making inferences, identifying central ideas, themes, and the meanings of adages and proverbs, while strengthening their vocabulary skills.
Standards Typically Addressed: L.9-10.4, RL.9-10.1, RI.9-10.2

**✏️ Text Structure Tuesday:**
Tuesdays are centered on understanding the craft and structure of texts. Students will analyze a paragraph, identifying its text structure (chronological, cause/effect, compare/contrast, etc.), using signal words as a guide. Tasks may include questions on the main idea, author's purpose and perspective, and vocabulary in context.
Standards Typically Addressed: RI.9-10.5, RI.9-10.2, L9-10.4

**✏️ Wordy Wednesday:**
Wednesday focuses on deepening understanding of word relationships and nuances in meaning. Activities will include tasks such as analyzing shades of meaning, working with homophones, and applying knowledge of Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Spelling and morphology will also be emphasized to enhance word recognition and comprehension.

Thursday is dedicated to the conventions of Standard English grammar and usage. Students will review and apply grammar rules, focusing on sentence structure, punctuation, and syntax to ensure mastery of language conventions in their writing.

**✏️ Figurative Friday:**
Fridays explore the use of figurative language and its impact on meaning and tone. Students will work with similes, metaphors, idioms, and alliteration, while also analyzing the structure of various poetic forms. Tasks will challenge students to interpret figurative language and consider its role in enriching text meaning.
