2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will LOVE writing with these daily writing prompts for EACH month! Perfect for engaging students in summer, spring, winter, holidays, and fall.

What's included:

  • 240 total cards/pages (20 writing prompt cards for each month)
  • 720 total questions/ideas
  • a variety of writing genres (opinion, narrative, informational, poetry, descriptive)
  • 3 different prompts for students to choose from each day
  • Seasonal/monthly themes
  • Google Slides option

This resource:

  • is simple and fun
  • gives your students a chance to be creative
  • works as a tool for students to have a choice in what they write about

Ways to use the writing prompts:

  • Make it a part of their morning work/routine.
  • Use one of these journal choices to assign as homework.
  • Use one of these journal choices as a warm-up for your writing lesson/workshop. Even if it's just one day a week.
  • In addition to the journal prompts, have students make a list in their writing notebook of things they WANT to write about or a place where they keep good story ideas. This can be a part of the notebook they work on and write about the stories as early finisher tasks. Treat it like a reward or a special part of their day. They GET to work on their story ideas (even sketching them out) when they have extra time.
