This Product Includes: • Mini Flash Cards for Basic Multiplication Facts through 10’s designed to hang on a binder ring (I suggest copying on card stock OR laminating) • 11 Multiplication Quizzes for each set of facts through the 10’s (20 facts on each quiz) • 1 Multiplication Quiz containing all the facts through the 10’s (100 facts) • 11 Brag Badges for students after mastering a set of facts and also for mastering all the facts. These could be worn on a lanyard, a binder ring on their backpack, or however you choose. These are in color and can be printed and laminated to last longer or printed on card stock. • Student Progress Checklist to keep track of students’ quizzes
About this Product: This is a resource I designed for my 4th grade classroom after realizing most of my students had not mastered their basic multiplication facts. According to the Common Core Standards, students should master these facts by the end of 3rd grade. As many teachers know, this is sometimes not reality. We moved on to bigger and better concepts in my 4th grade classroom. Their lack of mastery of these facts hindered their ability to master multi-digit multiplication and division, factors and multiples, and working with fractions. Thus, this product was born. This product contains materials to help and motivate your students to master their facts as well as quizzes to assess students’ progress.
The 100 basic facts are broken down into quizzes on each fact set: 1s-10s. So, students can start with their 1s. This would be the first quiz they take. As they pass each quiz, they move on until passing all the individual quizzes and finally All the Facts. Students use the personal mini flash cards to practice facts at home or when they have extra time during class. Having these on a binder ring makes it less likely cards will get lost or scattered. Hopefully.
The Brag Badges can be used as a reward when students pass a test. If copies or printing in color is an issue for you, you could use the colored versions for passing all the facts. With the flash card printables, there are also smaller versions of Brag Badges that students can place on the binder ring. Additionally, there are flash cards for 11s, 12s, and a couple of challenge multiplication problems just for kicks.

This product comes with 24 Road Trip -Themed Task Cards for practicing multiplication, division and fractions.
They can be printed in color or as grayscale black and white. I suggest laminating the cards and printing on card stock so they will last longer. However, I did not do this and printed on regular 8.5 x 11 and then laminated. This worked perfectly fine if you do not have card stock handy.
After laminating, you can use a book/binder ring to attach the cards. They can then become part of your Math Center as a rotation, small group, tutoring, or for review. Another suggestion for using this is to not expect students to complete all of the cards, especially your struggling students. A blank Answer Sheet is included that students can just write the number for each problem. This is wonderful to use as an early finisher task. If you decided to print, these problems could also be glued in students’ math journal.

*A DIGITAL OPTION HAS BEEN INCLUDED FOR GOOGLE SLIDES/GOOGLE CLASSROOM* Be sure to re-download! There are directions and links inside the ZIP File.
This is one of my favorite Writing Units! Writing a Newspaper Article about the community, school, or class is a fun way for students to develop their writing skills, as well as connect with the world around them. The resources in this unit could be used to teach as a class Writing Unit, to create a class newspaper, a school newspaper, or in an after school club. Students will develop informational writing skills which support the Common Core Writing Anchor Standard 2: Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.
This unit is fun for end of the year after testing is all over to remind students that writing is not just test prep and writing essays! Also, you might use this to create a Class Newspaper or Anthology to help preserve the year’s memories. Though this is a unit on writing a Newspaper Article, it could be extended to writing a blog, website article, magazine article, or other type of article. Writing about the news is not as simple as writing for a Newspaper anymore. This is why throughout the resources you may see varying terms such as Newspaper Article, Journalist, Reporter, Feature Article, etc.
What this Product Includes: There are 3 separate documents included in a zipped file.
*Anchor Charts for the Writer’s Notebook (31 pages) These are half sheets which students can glue in to have the anchor charts at their fingertips.
*Anchor Charts Full Size (same content as above) (20 pages) which can be used: -as a slide show when teaching the unit -printed and laminated to post on bulletin board or Writing Center -printed and put in sheet protectors compiled together on a book/binder rings
I use these charts as a slide show and then also print, put in sheet protectors, then assemble together on a binder/book ring to use when teaching a small group or support writers in working on something specific.
*Unit Lesson Plans-(15 pages) The lessons are brief and to the point to explain how to teach the unit or teaching point for the day. Please know that these lessons are absolutely not the only way the lessons could be taught, but to give teachers an idea if this is a new-to-you unit! They are meant to be in the form of a mini lesson for the Writer’s Workshop model, however are NOT written to those specific guidelines. They are more a general idea of what you would do for that lesson. There is also a page of listed texts and websites that would be useful in teaching this unit. Anything in blue is a clickable link that will take you to that specific website.
The lessons may take longer than one day or less than one day, depending on you and your students. The lessons can be arranged in any way which fits your students. Make these resources your own and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
I hope you have as much fun as we did with this unit!

Get your students excited about opinion writing! This complete opinion writing unit includes daily lesson plans, notebook charts, mentor texts and more. This unit takes your students through the whole writing process. Students will begin with getting ideas and end with a published piece of opinion writing. The opinion writing lessons included can be used in two ways:
This opinion essay unit provides basic opinion writing teaching points and resources based on the Common Core Writing Standards for Grades 3-5. The lesson plans are divided into three parts:
1. Basic Teaching Points: Lessons that can be carried from writing a self-selected opinion piece to writing in response to text. These begin with generating ideas and end with a published piece of opinion writing.
2. Bonus (mini) Mini Lessons: Lessons to be used in small group, conferring, or whole group depending on the needs of your students.
3. Writing in Response to Text: Lessons to be used when writing in response to text or a prompt
This unit provides topic ideas and resources for any opinion piece. You could use a text as a basis for the opinion piece or use this unit to simply kick off opinion writing in your classroom. The writing lessons do not need to be taught in the exact order. Also, some of the teaching points you could use as small group lessons if you find that only some of your students need the lesson.

I don’t know about you, but wall space is always an issue in my classroom. Not only that but storing and keeping track of large chart paper can sometimes stretch our organizational skills to the limits! I have found one of the best ways to support my students is to treat their notebooks like a tool in which they can find the strategies and skills taught whenever they need it. In this way, what we teach our students is not just a one-day occurrence, but they have a “forever tool.”

3.MD.C.6Measure areas by counting unit squares (square cm, square m, square in, square ft, and improvised units).
3.MD.C.7Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition.
3.MD.C.7.AFind the area of a rectangle with whole-number side lengths by tiling it, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths.
3.MD.C.7.BMultiply side lengths to find areas of rectangles with whole-number side lengths in the context of solving real world and mathematical problems, and represent whole-number products as rectangular areas in mathematical reasoning.
3.MD.C.7.CUse tiling to show in a concrete case that the area of a rectangle with whole-number side lengths a and b + c is the sum of a × b and a × c. Use area models to represent the distributive property in mathematical reasoning.
3.MD.C.7.DRecognize area as additive. Find areas of rectilinear figures by decomposing them into non-overlapping rectangles and adding the areas of the non-overlapping parts, applying this technique to solve real world problems.
3.MD.D.8Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.

Personal Narrative Writing Unit {My Life is a Story}
Regular price
$11.00
Save $-11.00
This Personal Narrative Unit is perfect for kicking off Writer’s Workshop at the beginning of the year, while also providing enough content to support the Narrative Writing Common Core Standard at any other point in the school year. The lessons in this unit will build excitement for writing and set foundations for the rest of your academic year. This unit also contains lifelong tools which could supplement other writing units and the overall writing process.
*Writing Unit Calendar with Teaching Points *Blank Planning Calendar *Mentor Text Suggestions and Links *20 Lesson Ideas for the Unit
(The lessons in this unit are NOT always in a specific lesson template or written to precisely tell you what to do. However, there are detailed descriptions and ideas for each teaching point, including how the teacher can model, how students will practice, and what students will do independently. This unit will look different in every classroom as your own personal teaching style, experience, and perspective filters through. I have included a brief explanation for each teaching point and how it would/could look in the classroom. I have also noted when to use the anchor charts for each day as well as included pictures of notebook work that may help also. This unit of resources will hopefully “fill your fist” as Katie Wood Ray would say, with writing strategies to help your writers build a love for writing! You can check out my blog for anchor chart ideas and information on teaching writing.
*20+ Writing Notebook Anchor Charts for the Writer’s Notebook to help support applying the writing strategies into their work by providing anchor charts at your students’ fingertips.
*20 Anchor Charts to be used for: teaching the lesson, laminated as posters, put in sheet protectors and on a binder ring as part of your writing center or any other creative way you find use for them!
*Narrative Writing Checklist and Grading Rubric
*Standards for 3rd-5th grades (to glue in notebook)
*Publishing Paper
Whether you are using this in your classroom to start off the year or as a way to improve your students’ writing process, I hope you and your students enjoy this unit as much as we did! If you have any further questions or needs I would love to hear from you!

Place Value Practice-The Power of 10 (Notebook Charts & Practice)
Regular price
$3.50
Save $-3.50
What's included?
Place Value Chart through Hundred Millions- (2 Versions) This half sheet could be used as a reference chart for students in their math journal to help with identifying the value of a number and how our place value system works. This chart labels the Ones Period, Thousands Period, and Millions Period. This could be color coded by using colored pencils to help students identify the different periods. This visual seemed to help students SEE the periods. You can see how we glued the chart in our notebooks to the right. We glued only part of the page and then folded over where the millions period is located. Below this chart, we wrote examples of the 3 different forms of numbers (Word, Standard, & Expanded).
The Power of 10 Notebook Chart (Ones through Hundred Millions)- This chart is a visual for students’ Math Journals to show an example of how our number system works, the idea that when you move through place value each digit is 10 times larger than the digit to the right. Additionally, the chart shows a picture of base ten blocks including a large stack of 10 thousands blocks. This was eye opening for my students to deepen their understanding of the base ten concept. (Included as a Notebook Chart & Full Page in case you wanted to use it in your math center.)
The Power of 10 Chart (Hundredths through Millions)- I teach 4th grade and teach place value at the beginning of the year and decimals later on in the year. I used this chart later on in the year to help build on prior knowledge of the place value system. This chart is similar to the one above, except to include decimals and only goes up through millions. (Included as a Notebook Chart & Full Page in case you wanted to use it in your math center.)
The Power of 10 Place Value Practice- This practice (2 pages front and back) offers varying word problems and scenarios that will allow students to practice working with the charts and apply their knowledge about place value. You could use this page to teach, partner practice, independent work, or all of the above, depending on your students’ needs. The answer key is included.
Place Value Practice Chart- This chart can be used in students’ notebooks to practice working with numbers and finding the value of a digit.
